Investigative Genetic Genealogy Association

Steering Committee Members

We’re looking for collaborative, community-minded individuals to guide this first phase. This organization will be a vibrant, inclusive space for practicing and aspiring IGG professionals, as well as those in adjacent fields. Our goal is to support education, connection, and professional standards across this evolving discipline - focusing on the shared foundations of our work rather than our differences.
We're assembling a 5–7 person Steering Committee to help define the association’s structure, values, and early offerings. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds who bring a passion for purposeful action and community-building.
Eligibility & Commitment
  • Open to all practicing and aspiring IGGs, and professionals in adjacent fields
  • Experience may be nonprofit, for-profit, academic, or volunteer-based
  • Passion for collaboration and community-building is essential
  • Must be able to commit at least 5-10 hours per week through September 2026
  • All work is remote with weekly meetings scheduled by the group
What Steering Committee Members Will Do
  • Help design an inclusive, member-driven association
  • Identify and assess current and future member needs
  • Contribute to naming, branding, and identity development
  • Develop a plan for monthly member programming (meetups, speaker series)
  • Create a digital “Knowledge Hub” to support IGG learning and sharing
  • Support the development of organizational culture and member engagement
